When my son-in-law deployed to Iraq recently, I knitted several helmet liners for him to take along. When some of his buddies saw Eric’s caps, they wanted one, too. While these guys are fortunate enough to be in air conditioning currently, they are cold at night when sleeping (shaved heads, you know). When I heard about this, I put yarn on the needles and knitted enough caps for all the guys in Eric’s unit–a dozen total–which I just mailed out to him a couple days ago, and the caps were in the Army black and gold colors the soldiers requested! This will be an ongoing project for me as long as my son-in-law is stationed overseas.

First off, Hi to anyone who reads this. I have never written a ‘blog’ so, here goes… I was wondering if you could send me the pattern to knit these liners. I would love to do that and I know that our church has several knitters who I am sure would take up the cause. Also, can you tell me where to mail them as well. I have a disability and spend as much of my free time quilting as I can, but I truly miss knitting and would love to donate some!!
